Nation Building by Mr Fantastic

If you are close to me, you'll know I have been a protegee of Fela Durotoye's (without his
knowing) for the last 8years. Guess what? I work for him now (whoop whoop...*dancing alingo*) and its been fantastic, no wonder they call him, "Mr Fantastic"
When you say nation building in Nigeria, few names come to mind and one of those names is Fela Durotoye. Popularly called FD, he has shown a passion for Nigeria that has proven to be genuine by his activities and involvements. Apart from the fact that he is a change agent, leadership, training and management consulting are his forte. This UNITED NATIONS YOUNG AMBASSADOR FOR PEACE has received so many awards for his consistency as an excellent exemplary figure and an inspiration to thousands of young people. Since 1992, Fela Durotoye has worked in various positions that ultimately prepared him for what he is currently doing now.

A few of the nation building projects successfully executed under the various organisations he runs include Project RAISE (Revive Academic excellence In our Schools and Educational institutions) as well as the remarkable MUSHIN MAKEOVER project which mobilized over 2,000 volunteers and celebrities to paint 296 houses FOR FREE in a single day in Mushin (a suburban area in the Lagos metropolis); thus becoming the largest-ever volunteer based Urban Renewal project in Africa.
Also GGRF (GEMSTONE Global Reading Festival) which was hosted by a number of State First Ladies around the country. Fela Durotoye also holds the record of signing the most books by an author at one seating in the world.

GEMSTONE stands for a Generation that is Empowered, Motivated and Stirred to Operate with Natural Excellence. This organisation is founded with the Vision “to make Nigeria into a most desirable nation to live in by December 31, 2025”. With this mandate, they are focusing on “building the people that will build the nation” using the forum of creating networks around the country that will support nation builders and to this end a foundation has been started situated in Lekki, Lagos State.

The flag-off of this network will take place on Saturday, May 18th, 2013 at The Old Senate Building, TBS, Lagos at 10am. Interested in building our dear nation or just curious? Register to attend the event at www.gemstonenetworkflagoff.eventbrite.com
